Triumph Motorcycles PJ showroom abuzz with the introduction of 2017 models.

Pictures of new Triumph models arriving at respective Triumph Motorcycle showrooms all over the country started appearing on social media about a fortnight ago and it was enough to kindle the interest of any motorcycle fan.

Not one, but four new 2017 models were introduced simultaneously, starting with the Street Triple RS roadster, Triumph Bonneville Bobber, the Street Scrambler and the Bonneville T100/T100 Black.

I paid a quick visit to the Triumph showroom in PJ yesterday morning to check out the new models myself. It was already overwhelming to see the awesome selection in the flagship showroom, let alone the chance of drooling over four of its new models.

I found myself rushing from one model to another like a kid in Toys R’ Us. Luckily, I was not the only one going lala.., almost everyone that walked in had the same expression on their faces, we were all motorcycle zombies.

The best part is, there are test units ready for potential buyers to try out and judge for themselves. In the brief two hours that I was there (it didn’t feel like two hours at all) there were at least two dozen people that had walked-in asking about the new arrivals. The more serious ones opted for the test spin and came back grinning ear to ear. That grin clearly says – where do I sign?.

Before you jump out of that seat and rush over Triumph later this morning we bring you some essential information on all for models as adapted from the original press release sent by Fast Bikes Sdn. Bhd. the official importer and distributor of Triumph Motorcycles in Malaysia:

  1. Triumph Street Triple RS – RM66,900 including GST

The Street Triple RS has a powerplant derived from the Triumph Daytona 765, this means the cc is increased by 90 compared to the previous model.

The higher cc results 16% more power output from its predecessor, offering 121bhp of peak power at 11,700rpm. It’s decked up with Showa suspension up front and Ohlins for the rear. Brembo brakes and Pirelli Supercorsa SP tyres, and it weighs in at only 166kgs (lightest in class) to set a whole new benchmark in terms of performance.

The RS comes with ride-by-wire (RbW) motor featuring over 80 new parts, quickshifter and slipper clutch included. The all-new customisable 5.0-inch TFT screen steal the cake for the best new electronic feature on the RS.

5 riding modes which include – Road, Rain, Sport, Track and a programmable Rider mode are available on the RS offering varying throttle maps and levels of traction control. Even the amount of ABS intervention can be tuned. The chassis remains the same as the previous model, but gets a new stiffer gullwing swingarm.

At present, the Street Triple RS is priced at RM66,900 (including 6% GST, but excluding on-the-road costs). It comes in only in the Matt Silver Ice and Phantom Black colour schemes.

  1. Triumph Bonneville Bobber – from RM74,900 including GST

Headlining this year’s Triumph Motorcycles’ modern classic range is the much-talked about Triumph Bonneville Bobber which is a completely new model style for the British motorcycle manufacturer.

Triumph Motorcycles may have had cruisers and customs in the range for many years, but none have boasted the single-minded design of the new Bobber.

The new Bobber perfectly expresses the minimalistic styling principles, muscular stance and focussed engineering attitude of a genuine Bobber. With clean lines and a low stance, single seat, wide flat bars, minimal bodywork and headlight, sculpted tank, wire spoked wheels, with wide rear wheel and that all important hard tail look.

With an innovative and elegantly engineered adjustable seat and clock position to suit the rider and riding style. The ‘swing cage’ hard tail set-up and hidden mono-shock suspension make the bobber special and irresistible.

Bobbers have always been about light weight and more power, so it’s 1,200cc High Torque engine with electronic updates and a new dual airbox/filter design enables it to produce more torque and power down low, when compared to the T120.

Like the rest of the bikes in Triumph Bonneville line-up, the Bobber comes with everything including riding modes (Road and Rain) to switchable traction control, ABS, and a torque-assist clutch.

Colour options include Ironstone (with a matte finish), Morello Red, Stunning Competition Green and Frozen Silver, and Jet Black. Prices start from RM74,900 to RM75,900 (prices quoted are including 6% GST but without on-the-road costs).

The new Bobber has been designed with customizing in mind, and that there are over 150 accessories available for more style, comfort, and performance.

  1. Triumph Street Scrambler – from RM65,900 including GST

Triumph’s latest Street Scrambler, also created great excitement during its launch.

Built around the Triumph Street Twin’s new-generation 900cc High Torque liquid-cooled parallel twin, the chassis was designed specifically for the Street Scrambler, placing the footpegs in an optimum position for off-road riding and enabling the fitment of longer rear shocks. The front forks and rear shocks are model-specific, and the ride height has been increased.

The Street Scrambler rides on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear spoked wheels, shod with Metzeler Tourance dual-sport tires. The standard ABS and traction control are switchable for off-road use. A flat solo bench seat and aluminum rear rack are standard, with a passenger seat included that can be swapped for the rack. Passenger footpegs and hangers are also removable. Grippy off-road footpegs, rubber knee pads and a skid plate are all included.

The instrument cluster is comprised of a dual-clock display incorporating speed, engine rpm, gear position, odometer and tripmeter, fuel range, fuel level, fuel consumption data, a clock and traction control settings.

Colour options include Jet Black, Matte Khaki Green and Korosi Red, and Frozen Silver. Prices start from RM65,900 to RM67,900 (prices quoted are including 6% GST but without on-the-road costs), depending on colour scheme.

  1. Triumph Bonneville T100/T100 Black – RM63,900 including GST

For those with a more purist classic soul, the new Triumph Bonneville T100/T100 Black combine the lightness of the Street Twin with the classic styling of the T120.

Powering the new T100/T100 Black is the liquid-cooled, eight-valve, 270-degree crank, 900cc High Torque parallel twin powerplant.

Similar to the T120, styling for the new T100/T100 Black is inspired by the iconic 1959 Bonneville, with a classically sculpted tank, a detailed engine plate, twin gauges and spoke wheels.

The new T100s also features brushed aluminum covers, bolt-on Triumph badges unique to these two models and a generous helping of chrome on the mirrors, fender stays, handlebars and headlight bezel. Rounding out the profile is a comfort seat finished in contrast piping with deeper foam for more comfort.

The new T100/T100 Black blends classic details, like twin analogue gauges, with modern features, like dual multi-function LCD screens.

The new T100 comes in three classically inspired paint schemes: Aegean Blue and Fusion White with hand painted coach lines, Intense Orange and New England White with hand painted coach lines, as well as Jet Black.

The T100 Black, on the other hand, sports blacked-out engine covers, peashooter exhausts and wheel rims, and it is available with either gloss Jet Black or Matte Black bodywork. It has blacked-out components and bodywork painted in Matte Black or gloss Jet Black.

Pricing for the new T100/T100 Black are from RM63,900 to RM65,900 (prices quoted are including 6% GST but without on-the-road costs), depending on colour scheme.
