Yes, Moto Guzzi the Italian motorcycle brand under Piaggio is making a comeback after a period of lapse in the Malaysian market. Moto Guzzi is best known for its cruiser and custom styled motorcycles, retro looking motorcycles injected with modern refinement.
Although the brand presence in Malaysian dates back to the 1970s it was made popular a few years back with a dedicated showroom and service centre in Glemmarie, Shah Alam. Moto Guzzi’s factory built café-racer, the V7 Racer became its flagship model here with the V7 Classic and Stone raking up good support as well. A few units of the Stelvio and Norge have also made it onto the Malaysian roads.
Not too long after the release of the award winning California cruiser model, the importers were effected by a shift in ownership and management. The showroom moved to Taipan Damansara 2 with a smaller scale service centre and upon our last visit about two months ago, the service centre was still catering to the needs of existing Moto Guzzi owners.
Moto Guzzi is set for a fresh beginning under a new brand owner in Malaysia with swanky new showroom being crafted smack in the middle of Petaling Jaya. A service and parts center will complement the brand new set-up and according to a representative from the new company, the doors will be opened officially on the 1st of July.
The fully equipped service center will be ready to handle Moto Guzzi and most of the other Italian make motorcycle’s servicing needs from day one. Some may be a little skeptical of a fresh establishment like this and doubt its capacity, fret not because the majority of the personnel here are well experienced and trained people. Don’t be surprised to see some familiar faces there.
We will keep you posted with the latest updates on Moto Guzzi’s comeback right here.
