The last SBR trackday held on June 16th and 17th had some rare treats sprinkled on the entry list. It was all concentrated at one particular pit where an MV Augusta F4RC, a Ducati 1199 Superleggera, a BMW HP4 and an Aprilia RSV4 RF were lined up like it was an SBK race about to take place.
The dream garage collection were part of an ensemble put together by Hong Kong Based motorcycle tuner Motard Tech. There were a total of 16 superbikes that were shipped over from Hong Kong to take part in the SBR Trackdays event by the East Kowloon based company.
Proprietors and chief techies from Motard Tech, Benson Che and Roy Li were at hand supporting the riders with setup of the machines before and after they head out onto the track. Benson and Roy are electronic engineers by profession who ventured into the motorcycles tuning business fuelled by passion for motorcycles.
Motard Tech was found in 2010 and just about four years later it had set foot in Sepang Circuit thanks to a group of well-heeled clientele who are big fans of the Malaysian MotoGP circuit. Motard Tech handles all the needs of trackday and race riders predominantly at Sepang Circuit and occasionally in China.
According to Benson, the arrangements usually includes bike set up, shipping, rider preparation, tuning and local logistics. “The riders and the crew love Sepang Circuit because of the circuit design, facilities, accessibility and the documentation and approval required is easier compared to even China. The Malaysian food and its people’s hospitality is a big bonus for us.” said Benson who usually spend up to a week in Malaysia just before and after track events.
Benson and Roy also work very closely with their Malaysian counterparts like seasoned racer and track riding instructor Lee Ching Hooi, better known as Panjang. Also seen trying out the Motard Tech collection during the track day was Singaporean lady biker, motorcycle blogger and vlogger – Vaune Phan.
