The annual Port Dickson International Bikes fest provided bikers the much needed beach getaway. This year the event was held at the Mayang Sari Beach Resort, 2.5 Miles Port Dickson. The beach view venue was great with ample space for parking, displays, trade vendors, a mainstage and food stalls.
The organisers, SDMC from Seremban had once again put together a great event for bikers from all over the country to converge and have fun. This year there was more participation by bikers from other ‘categories’, namely street, tourer, ADVs, and some sports riders too. In the past, this event was almost exclusively patronised by cruiser riders and Motorcycle Clubs (MCs) from the Klang Valley and southern states. Fast Bikes Sdn. Bhd, the official distributor of Triumph Motorcycles in Malaysia together with the Negeri Sembilan state tourism authority were the presenting sponsors for the event.
We were there Saturday morning just in time to catch the SAM (Superbike Association of Malaysia) Merdeka Ride participants from Johor and Melaka stopping over on their way to Kuala Lumpur. The 300 strong convoy were treated to a hearty breakfast and were flagged-off by a VIP for their journey up to Puchong, Kuala Lumpur.
After the SAM convoy rolled out, there was a short void but by about lunch time, bikers filled up the event ground which was still a little soggy due to the continuous rain over the past week. The weather held up quite nicely on Saturday but we heard that there were some light showers later that evening.
Most bikers rode in convoys to meet up with friends, listen to some rock music and chill by the beach. There was a fair selection of stall food for lunch, ranging from Nasi Kukus to Chicken Chops. The organisers did a good deed by setting up ample seating areas for bikers to sit and enjoy their drinks meal. Entertainment by several notable live bands was going on throughout with Purple Haze taking the stage as the main act.
Vendors also enjoyed brisk business from the thousands of visitors PD International Bike Fest 2017. Triumph Motorcycles for Malaysia were the main attraction at the trade display area. The Bonneville range especially the Bobber inevitably received the most attention from visitors while the new Street Triple 765 range also attracted great interest from bikers. Bikers took the opportunity to sit on and feel the Triumph models on display whilst the friendly sales advisors filled them in with all the necessary information about the models on show.
It was a great place to be at over the last weekend and we’re absolutely glad we did so. Now, we’re looking forward to the next bikers gathering event to ride to.
