All–new KTM Lightweight Fighters Launched

  • KTM Malaysia unveils the 250 Duke (RM21,730.00 including GST) & the 390 Duke (RM28,800.00 including GST)

KTM Malaysia announced the arrival of the all-new 250 Duke and 390 Duke at an exciting function on Tuesday 26th September. The event attended by members of the media and KTM nationwide dealers was held at One City Mall in USJ Subang.

KTM’s Duke range, the 200 Duke, 250 Duke and 390 Duke has been its best-sellers in Malaysia since 2012 and it went on to dominate the lightweight motorcycle market for many years.

What set the Dukes apart from the competition were their groundbreaking aggressive design, light weight, handling, power and technology, considered by many as the best.

The all-new 390 Duke has been earmarked to be the range topper. Already a favourite for its thrilling power and lively ride, the 2017 390 Duke is more potent underneath the all-new bodywork, with an engine that punches out a mighty 44 bhp, 37Nm of torque and weighing in at only 149kg.

The 390 Duke is also equipped with an all-new Ride-by-Wire throttle, which eliminates the need for the throttle cable resulting a smooth throttle response and better efficiency. Power is fed through a slip-and-assist clutch which not only eliminates chatter during aggressive downshifting but also presses the plates together to minimize power loss when you’re hard on the throttle. A larger 320mm front brake disc and BOSCH ABS system ensures safer braking.

Another great feature is multi-colour, multi-function 5.2” TFT display console which is Bluetooth ready for smartphone pairing and is controlled from the handlebar, a first in its class. A radical new split LED headlamp similar to the 1290 Super Duke R makes its debut. Simply put it’s a baby Super Duke.

Meanwhile, the all-new 250 Duke has also received more than just an aggressive makeover. True to KTM’s READY TO RACE mantra, the 250 Duke’s engine packs 30 bhp and is mated to a transmission with a slip-and-assist clutch, then attached to a lightweight frame.

The WP Suspension, feature the latest open-cartridge technology which consists of fewer parts hence lesser weight, rugged and performs well over a wide spectrum of conditions.

The all-new 250 Duke is now also designed as aggressively as its bigger 1290 Super Duke R brother. A predatory stance sets the rider in a sportier riding position and the fuel tank is bigger for more range.

Newly redesigned seats promise comfort for sporty riding and travelling two-up. Both the all-new KTM 250 DUKE and KTM 390 DUKE are available in two colour schemes.

The launch event was capped-off with a stunt riding performance by the 2016 FIM Asia Supermoto Champion, Gabit Saleh. Gabit performed with an almost stock standard 390 DUKE with only a brake lever modification. Gabit’s performance highlighted the agility and nimbleness of the new 390 Duke.
